A few months ago Eloise’s aunt Dawnel took a trip to England where she did a lot of sightseeing. She stopped and checked out Oxford University and picked up this adorable tee for Eloise. It got me thinking about this girls future. (already?!)
I was raised in a family where a college degree wasn’t common (that has since changed) but I grew up in a very nice home with everything a kid could need with parents who worked hard. I was/am proud of them! I never went to college after high school and part of me regrets it just a bit. On the other hand I have a very good photography business that I wouldn’t necessarily need a degree to have. What I DO wish I would have had after high school was a PLAN. A plan to do something. I ended up working at a job that wasn’t for me for NINE AND A HALF YEARS because I didn’t have a plan. I kind of wandered for a long time.
To me that will be what is important to teach me children. Having a plan. And no it doesn’t have to be a detailed and mean they have to know exactly what they want right out of high school, because, who does.
Ultimately I think Matthew and I agree we want our kids to thrive. To grow and be productive members of society. To work for and reach their goals. Whatever they may be.
What are your goals for your kids future?
