Well it finally happened. I missed monthly updates. Last kid, what can I say? And while there is a part of me that is sad I didn’t get to document Rue’s first year like I did with the other three, deep down I know that it’s what I needed to do this past year. I still have PLENTY of photos of that girl, barely a day went by without one, so I am not too worried. its the writing down her little milestones that I hope I don’t forget. She turned one a couple months ago so I have no clue on all her stats but those can be found all the other places.
Now about this past year. This past year was all about survival. Learning how to function as a family of 6, after we had just became a family of 5 a year before that. It was a lot to figure it out, but I honestly think we hit our stride eventually. I learned to let a LOT of things go that just were not important to our day to day, and I am pretty ok with that. Matthew and I just had a conversation that THIs year, this year we are going to THRIVE, not just survive. And I feel really good about that. I am finally out of the post partum, no sleep haze and just really excited about all our futures.
Now about Rue.
This girl. Whew. She is something else. All of my kids have been a little independent. A little stubborn. But this girl takes the cake. She knows what she wants. maybe it’s a 4th child thing, she just knows she has to do it herself? She is so smart and so strong and I KNOW she is going to accomplish literally anything that she wants. She is funny. She LOVES her siblings more than anything. All she wants to do is join them in whatever activity they are doing. Thankfully they love her and they will make it possible for her to tag along and join in in anyway they can. Her smile for her dad is like no other smile I have seen. And this girl LOVES music. We have daily dance parties at our house but this girl will break it down the SECOND she hears a beat anywhere. She just started singing. A LOT. I dont remember my kids singing this early or as much as her. When she is in her crib waiting on someone to come get her she is usually singing her little heart out in her own little baby language. I have been trying my absolute hardest to record it. She is so so loved and absolutely completes our family. She loves being carried by her big sisters and Nolan is always trying to help her and include her. He is definitely going to be a protective big brother. We love her SO so much and can not wait to see what this girl can do!
